Stateless Address Autoconfiguration is a feature of IPv6 that allows devices on an IPv6 network to automatically get IPv6 addresses. SLAAC is similar to DHCP except that DHCP requires you to run and configure a DHCP server. SLAAC is built into IPv6 and requires only minor additional configuration. SLAAC is defined by RFC 2462.
